The Best of Spicie Foodie 2010

>> Tuesday, December 21, 2010

This is the best of Spicie Foodie 2010! December's YBR issue has us participants picking one recipe that was our favorite published on our blogs in 2010. While I still haven't made up my mind which is my favorite, going through my archives has given me a pretty neat insight into so many dishes that were served on our table. I'm also looking at it as a sort of diary of this year, it's a good way of seeing how healthy or unhealthy we've been eating. I think that we would receive good marks for maintaining a healthy diet without missing out on all the great food to be prepared and eaten. So in case you missed any of my recipes here is a small collection of the best of Spicie Foodie in 2010. (Hopefully I can make my choice for my December's YBR submission soon, hehe.) I hope you enjoy it!

You have wonderful collection, and just to tell you little story..my aunt had few friends over for dinner that are Vegetarians..I went on your blog, translate recipes on Italian and gave the blog name to her for future ideas..they were so impressed, and she said it tasted absolutely amazing.
It was 3 dishes
Yellow Split Pea Spread, Beet Salad and Beans and Tortilla- she never used ground cumin in the beans so that was so different for her. However I love, love your Beet Salad, and will make it again!
Best Wishes over Holidays

Wow everything looks terrific. Tough decision! My favorites are a few of them and if I have to pick one, I don't think I can. The noodle soup always make me crave for some soup, tho.

Wishing you merry Christmas to you and your family Nancy!

All your photos are gorgeous! Hard to pick a favorite. The cat is adorable.

Wow, Nancy! You have posted so many beautiful and delicious looking things. It kind of makes me feel lazy (smile). Oh, and I think it really looks like you guys eat a lot of nutrient dense food. There is definitely a good amount of variety and color too, which is always great in reference to nutrition.
p.s. I thought this was your round up for a minute and that I had missed it. Phew!
p.s.s. Baking powder is sodium bicarbonate packed with a dry acid. The two react when one bakes causing for a chemical reaction the releases gas and causes lift. When one uses baking soda (pure sodium bicarbonate) an acid is needed, so that the aforementioned reaction happens. Red wine vinegar is the acid I chose. Oh, and it doesn't cause for any funny taste at all! Plus, some people say it causes for cakes to be really fluffy/soft. Mine was that way actually. Hmm...
Ooh, sorry for writing a novel here.
XOXO

All your photos are so gorgeous that its difficult to pick a favorite based on the food! I think you've definitely been eating healthy this past year. It's time for me to take a look back at my diary so I can submit to YBR. Hope your holidays have been filled with joy, Nancy!

You should make a food calendar out of these - the color just pops off of the screen. I see that I have a lot of catching up to do with your blog!!!

Tasty Trix December 27, 2010 at 8:49 PM

Ps - I'm so dumb!!! I write this and realize that of course you DO have a calendar! Duh, I knew that. (Too many hot toddies, perhaps?)

baobabs December 28, 2010 at 4:16 AM

Love it!!! stunning photos and the calendar is a great idea, but you should totally use those photos on your name card, either as a collage or different individual images! :D
